OUR CURRICULUM
Know it. Apply it. Belong.
INTERDISCIPLINARY AND MODULAR
Since every learner and every community is different, courses are interdisciplinary and modular by design. Lessons can be rearranged to fit any curricular goals and program calendar, enabling educators to meet their community exactly where it is.
Core courses feature a robust approach to subjects that develop core competencies for living an active Jewish life.
Applied courses explore Judaism through hands-on disciplines and hobby-based activities. A full course sequence can serve as the primary curriculum or individual lessons can complement existing content and calendar-specific learning goals.
L’vaker is that flexible!
A Strategic Framework
Inspired by the KUD framework (Know / Understand / Do), every L'vaker lesson begins with K-A-B learning goals: what learners will Know, how they'll Apply it to their own lives, and how this exploration builds a sense of Belonging to the Jewish people.
Age-appropriate orientation to young learners (ages 5-7), older (ages 8-11) and mature learners (ages 12+) and educators can choose what best fits the needs of their group.
Designed for 30-45 minutes based on optimal attention span.
Shabbat friendly options and modifications offered for Shabbat schools and Shabbat-observant programs.
Lessons move through a consistent Learning Arc:
The Learning Arc
LESSON OUTLINES THAT EMPOWER

Designed for educators who are short on time, who are not Jewish studies subject matter experts, and for seasoned
masters, L’vaker lesson outlines balance prescribed content with room to integrate one’s own vision and materials.

LEARNING PRIORITIES
-
Content is trusted when it's explored: through interactions between learner and content, learner and peers, learner and educator.
-
A relational learning environment dedicated to friendship and belonging within Jewish community accelerates learning.
-
Wonder and investigation drive a lasting relationship with Jewish learning that is sustained through multiple visits to concepts, revealing new perspectives and applications each time.
-
Learners select the ideas that are most resonant and important to them when given space for thoughtful consideration and internalization. This sparks growth and transformation.
-
Progress is measured through growth, not performance, and learners and educators are accountable to each other along the way.
-
Every lesson is a launch point for a learning adventure built to carry learners past the “B'Mitzvah cliff" and onward through adulthood.

We have learned that while these resources are easily accessible online, most educators lack the bandwidth or familiarity with the range of offerings to take advantage of these community investments. L'vaker's lesson outlines curate free resources developed by the following leading Jewish educational organizations. In doing so, L'vaker supports educators and their learners while also advancing the impact of these organizations.
